Born on October 30, 1984, Panshak Henri Zamani is one of the most successful rappers to come out of Nigeria.

Professionally, the 37-year-old is referred to as Ice Prince. Following the release of the hit singles Oleku, Superstar, and Juju, he rose to fame in the industry.

In 2011, he released his debut album, Everybody Loves Ice Prince. He was once signed to the label Chocolate City Music Group, where he eventually became Vice-President.

He has released two more albums, Fire Of Zamani and Jos To The World, since the release of his debut album.

Early Life & Education

On October 30, 1984, Ice Prince was born, going by Panshak Henri Zamani. He was born in the Niger State city of Minna. He is from the Plateau state’s Angas ethnic group.

His parents made the decision to relocate to Jos when he turned two in an effort to find better employment prospects. Ice Prince thus relocated to Plateau State alongside them, where he lived for the following 20 years. Ice Prince lost his mother to the icy grip of death when he was in his mid-twenties.

Ice Prince has always had a passion for music. He started penning rap songs and performing them at school functions when he was only fifteen. He started recording the songs when he was seventeen years old.

Ice Prince started a group named ECOMOG with a few of his buddies who shared his enthusiasm for music. That was back in 2002. Unfortunately, the group disbanded within a year of each other.

While he was in the institution, he became acquainted with the likes of MI Abaga, Jesse Jagz, Ruby, Lindsey Abudei. And they came together to become Loopey Crew.

Education

Ice Prince completed his secondary schooling at St. Murumba College while he was residing in Jos. He attended Science Technical College in Jos as well.

He applied and was accepted to study zoology at the University of Jos after graduating from high school with honors.

But because of financial limitations, he was unable to finish his university education and dropped out.

Career

At concerts and events hosted by the University of Jos, Ice Prince and the other members of the Loopy Crew gave performances. This contributed to Ice Prince’s rise to popularity among students and the expansion of his fan base.

The rapper rose to fame following the release of Oleku, one of his songs. Radio stations all around the nation aired the tune, which spent weeks at the top of the charts. When Ice Prince started working on his first album, he had signed a record contract with Audu Maikori’s Chocolate City Music. 2011 saw the release of his debut album, Everybody Loves Ice Prince. The album features two notable singles, Superstar and Juju.

2013 saw the release of Fire Of Zamani, his second studio album. Commercially successful tracks like Aboki, More, V.I.P., and Gimmie Dat are included in the CD.

In 2015, Ice Prince started working on his third studio album, which he finished and released to the public in 2016. Universal Music mixed and mastered the record, which is called Jos To The World. In 2015, he also released his debut EP. The project bears his name, Trash Can. 2018 saw the release of C.O.L.D., his sophomore extended play.

Ice Prince has worked with some of the top artists in the business since his 2011 breakthrough. Among the well-known names are DJ Neptune, Bez, MI Abaga, Lola Rae, Eldee, Banky W, Wizkid, Jesse Jagz, Naeto C, Terry Tha Rapman, and others.

Awards and Nominations

Ice Prince won his first music competition in 2009 when he emerged victorious from the Hennessey Artistry Tour.

In addition to winning Song of the Year for his song “Oleku,” he was named the 2011 winner of the Dynamix All Youth Award for best new artist.
He took home the Best Rap Album Headies Award in 2012.
