As a freshman at Howard University in Washington, D.C., Diddy was a popular figure on campus. His bands were considered “stories” and he used his connections to land an internship at Uptown Records, leaving DC before completing his degree. In a very short time, he became an influential leader, producing artists such as Grammy winner Mary J. Blige. He left Uptown and started his own record label, Bad Boy Entertainment.
In 1996, he joined Arista Records, setting up his new company with a record $6 million. Meanwhile, Diddy is behind the scenes in the studio planning creative marketing campaigns to crush new artists.
