JAMB Admission Checklist: From Registration to Accepting an Offer

A successful admission process requires more than sitting for the UTME. You must provide correct details, meet school requirements, track deadlines and respond to your offer. Use this checklist to manage each stage.

Prepare Your Documents and Registration Details

Gather your records before JAMB registration. Your name and date of birth should match across your documents. Corrections can take time and may affect screening.

Register only at an approved JAMB centre. Keep your profile code, registration slip and email access secure. Check the selected institutions, course choices and subject combination before leaving the centre. For another perspective, see How to Compare University, Polytechnic and College of Education Courses.

  • National Identification Number and personal details
  • Active personal phone number and email address
  • O'level results or awaiting-result status
  • Correct UTME subject combination
  • JAMB registration and examination slips

Check Results and Institution Requirements

Review your UTME result through the official JAMB platform. Then check the current admission rules published by your chosen institution. A general JAMB score does not replace a school's departmental requirements.

Confirm that your O'level subjects meet the course requirements. Upload your result to the JAMB portal when required. Candidates using two sittings should check whether the institution and course accept that combination.

Complete Post UTME and Screening

Watch the institution's official website for its screening notice. Note the application deadline, fee, test format and required uploads. Avoid relying only on social media posts.

After registration, print your acknowledgement or examination slip. Attend any test or physical screening with the stated documents. Check the school's portal afterward for results, corrections or further instructions.

  1. Read the official screening notice.
  2. Confirm that your details are accurate.
  3. Complete the application before the deadline.
  4. Print all required slips.
  5. Prepare original documents and clear copies.
  6. Monitor the school portal after screening.

Check CAPS and Accept Your Offer

Log in to JAMB e-Facility and open the Central Admissions Processing System, known as CAPS. Check your admission status often. A status may change while the institution and JAMB process the application.

Review the institution and course before choosing Accept or Reject. Do not accept an offer you do not understand. After acceptance, print the JAMB admission letter and follow the institution's clearance and payment instructions. Keep receipts and copies of every document. • Verify the offered institution and course
  • Accept or reject the offer on CAPS
  • Print the official JAMB admission letter
  • Check the school's portal for its admission notice
